Since containers are often measured in fluid ounces, but wax is sold and weighed by weight ounces, the calculator automatically converts your input into weight based on the wax type you select. Here’s how our formula works:

Convert container volume to weight (ounces):

If input is in fluid ounces → Weight (oz) = Volume (fl oz) × Wax SG
If input is in pounds → Weight (oz) = Pounds × 16
If input is in grams → Weight (oz) = Grams ÷ 28.35

Calculate wax per candle:

-> Wax per candle = Converted container weight (oz)
Calculate batch total:
-> Total wax needed = Wax per candle × Number of candles

-> Container size: 8 fl oz jar
-> Wax type: Soy (SG = 0.90)
-> Number of candles: 12
